Boudoir Photography

The Perfect Gift For Him
By P.Kea  Dated: August 15, 2023

There are so many articles written about Boudoir Photography. Mostly by the photographers who take these awesome images of you and turn them into works of art. Photographers know how to position you to get the best image for your body type, produce the proper lighting and some know even how to calm that inhibition you may be feeling.

Boudoir Photography is not just about being naked or wearing sexy lingerie. You could wear a pair of jeans, tee shirt and bare foot and come away with a sense of style and sexiness.

It's all about the pose. The pose indicates that these photos are not for family and friends and that they're more about making a connection with your husband or wife, and or significant other.

I think every adult should do a Boudoir Photo Shoot. You get to see yourself in a different light, it gives you an sense of empowerment, it's exciting and fun, you will look and feel amazing and it makes a great gift for your significant other (as a photo album or a calendar). Just think of it as emotional self-care.

Here's a few tips for posing and wardrobe ideas to get you started...

Boudoir photography has been around since the 1920's and men have been enthused by images of naked or scantily clad women for over a century. Since that time until now Boudoir Photography has changed, from the make-up, hairstyles, clothing, locations and even the type of the women taken them.  If you search the internet, women have become so much more confident and comfortable with sharing  their intimate images for the world to see.

Now Boudoir photography is just so vibrant with color, just like the our world. Black and white photos are beautiful for somethings, but color images brings make-up, flesh tones and material textures up close and personal. But if you like the retro black and white images by all means take one or two for your photography session.

When you hear the word Boudoir most of us will think lingerie, the two just go together. One, two or three piece lingerie set is one of the go-to choices when doing a photo shoot. I also love the fact that if you're bigger than the average size women there are beautiful & sexy plus size lingerie outfits available.

Before you have your photo shoot discuss with the photographer about the things you should do and shouldn't do, discuss hair, make-up, clothing and the type of photo shoot you want. Example: dramatic, playful, role-play, cosplay or vintage. It really depends on how you feel like being, then leave it to the photographer to get those awesome images of you.

Ahhh...The men white button down shirt. A woman wearing a man's button down shirt are often seen in movies and regarded as one of the most used garments when it comes to indicating there was or about to be an intimate moment. The men white shirts are usually a go-to as well in these photo shoots, so think about using other colors such as pink or blue. Make sure the shirt is oversized on your body and try a few of these poses, which would work great for anyone. For more casual image try an oversized sports jersey, they also make for another great photo.

Here's another overize garment I think would be great for your photo shoot. The oversize sweater looks great with the front open or closed. These sweater pieces are great for winter and christmas photo shoots. Oversized sweaters also look great with thigh high boots or thigh high stockings.

The sheer boa robe is beautifully wrapped around the body and gathered in

and covered up in all the right places. The satin halter dress draped down to the lower back are definitely poses worth a try. Now, you may not have one of these robes or dresses sitting in your closet so, may I suggest using a sheer or satin window curtain panel and choose a color that compliments your skin tone.

The stilettos are not always necessary to complete a boudoir photo look. However they do help create a more daring sexier look, so try to find a pair of beautiful comfortable pair of stilettos and kick up your heels.

And yes, you can go formal with your boudoir photo shoot. Remember, I said it's all about the pose, so go ahead and include one or two shots dress to kill and ready to be seduced in your photo session. So classy!

Consider taking a Boudoir photo outdoors. Maybe in your backyard, patio or even an apartment terrace as long as it provides some sense of privacy. This is definitely a thinking of you moment.

Last but not least and one of my favorites. A pair of jeans or jean shorts with a bra. Picture this...Denim shorts with a fancy bra straddling a chair backwards in stilettos or bare foot.

Wrap-up

Boudoir Photos make a great gift to give your partner. Even if your not in a relationship, do it just for you. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing lingerie or taking these photos in front of a stranger, try a DIY Boudoir photography. If your not doing it as a gift have your partner take them for you, it’s a great way to spend quality time together. But if those two ideas don’t work for you, set an appointment with a professional photographer and depending on the photographer...you won't regret it!
